Knife Making

September 6-7

…taught by Robby Bowman, Dustin Rhodes & Cheyenne Brown…an AMAZING trio!!! Don’t miss this one!

Robby Bowman, Cheyenne Brown and Dustin Rhodes will be leading a group of 12 adults in making a useful knife out of repurposed railroad spikes, horseshoes and scrap copper. For this two-day weekend workshop, students will have access to Turtle Island's outdoor blacksmith's classroom - all tools and materials are provided. In addition this class with be working with copper as a medium for some beautiful blades. The event is open to a small group of adults only. (Special exceptions can be made for mature minors accompanied by an adult chaperone.) Students are strongly encouraged to have already taken a basic blacksmith class. Please check out our Blacksmiths Basics Class especially designed for beginners.

Copper was one of the very first metals to be utilized by humans. It has been dated back thousands of years to indigenous people. Though not as hard as steel, it can be work hardened to make a usable and versatile tool…not to mention beautiful!. Though it is seen as scrap metal, copper can be a vital lifeline. In a survival situation, there are chances that you might come across a piece of copper…..
