Family Resilience

January 25, 2025

Inclement Weather Date: February 1

The recent natural disaster that devastated our beautiful Western North Carolina mountains has prompted us to offer a course designed to prepare and educate you to be as resilient as possible during an event such as this. Being prepared is essential. Spencer “2dogs” Bolejack will lead this class. We will meet in one of our Adirondack cabins. It will be cold in January, so please dress warmly in layers. We will have a roaring fire in the cabin’s beautiful stone fireplace for our heat source. This class is limited to 20 folks and only 1 member per household please, so that we may serve more families. If the interest warrants it, we will schedule another repeat class. This class is totally FREE to our community of friends. We just ask that you register. Topics covered:

  • food and water storage

  • low budget options

  • mindset & conscious language

  • family organization & kids during disasters

  • medical basics

  • radios

  • simple solar power

  • fires & basic cooking

  • small engines & generatos

  • battery hacks

  • security & area defense

  • networking & community engagement

  • and more depending on the time

Spencer 2 Dogs Bolejack operates Land of the Sky Wilderness School in Western North Carolina where he lives with his wife and three kids.  An apprentice of mountain man Eustace Conway in the 1990s, Bolejack holds dan rank in multiple styles of martial arts including Tang Soo Do, Kenpo, IMA, and a 5th degree black belt in ninjutsu.  After a rough start at Appalachian State, he gave everything away and moved into the woods for a total of three years, surviving on little and accumulating many of the skills discussed in camp. Eventually graduating from UNC-A, he has taught public school, won state level awards from the Veterans of Foreign Wars, has been published in Best Practices for Middle School Teachers and has taught internationally.  The 11th generation Carolinian also co-hosted 59 episodes of Discovery’s Hillbilly Blood.
